The BIG3 continues to make big moves. On Tuesday, the 3-on-3 basketball league and sports apparel giant Adidas agreed to a three-year partnership deal.
Adidas will provide official jerseys, in addition to new licensed products such as hoodies and t-shirts. This deal, thanks to the global reach Adidas has, means exponential growth and marketability for the league.
Three-on-three basketball is extremely popular around the world, which is made evident by its inclusion in the 2020 Olympics Games. The BIG3 is staying ahead of the curve in more ways than one.
All The Right Moves
This is the latest step the BIG3 has taken to bolster its global presence and relevance in the sports community. The league has done an extraordinary job at making it clear where it stands on social issues while swiftly addressing issues detrimental to its integrity.
On March 12, the league relieved Roger Mason Jr. of his Commissioner duties, due to his alleged role in a corruption scandal. The response was swift.
Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler was introduced as the new Commissioner on March 15. Drexler coached the BIG3 team Power last season. Co-Founders and Co-CEOs Jeff Kwatinetz and Ice Cube wasted little time finding a replacement.
Back on March 21., they signed yet another Hall of Famer, Nancy Lieberman, to become the new head coach of Power. Lieberman is the first female head coach in a professional men’s sports league. The former-WNBA superstar, however, is no stranger to coaching. In her eight year career, she has coached the WNBA’s Detroit Shock, G-League’s Texas Legends and served as Assistant Coach for the Sacramento Kings.
Look forward to more groundbreaking and proactive moves from the league. Also, don’t miss the 2018 BIG3 Draft, which will be held on April 12 live on FS1.
